  the three meetings a week were broken up with book studies, awake and watchtower magazines,and ministry& field service meetings, all written by the watchtower society.

  never did we read any chapters from genesis to revelation and discuss the true meaning of what we just read.

  There is a reason JW's don't do that. The Watchtower's method of interpretation is to bounce around the Bible pulling verses out of context and without regard to what sort of book (history, poetry, prophecy) it is, who the author was, or the intended audience. The Germans have an expression "Kreuz und Quer" "Cross and cross" or perhaps "back and forth."

  Jeff...You hit the nail on the head. '' back and forth'' teaching was the wording I was looking for. Everything is read out of context and sometimes only the ending or beginning of a scripture is read to fit their interpretation.

  I remember a Ministry school book ( 1980's) that had all the books of the Bible (where we read at home and made comments at the meeting). We studied the Bible books only at a quick glance. Does anyone remember that book?

  • Well they actually do the read the bible during the week meeting from Genesis to Revelation

    The Society only glances at Bible books like Joshua, Judges, Ruth, Samuel, Kings, Chronicles, Ezra, Ester, Ezekiel, Nehemiah and many others. They don't read it word for word and have a deep study.

  In the 40 years as a Jehovah's Witness, I never read the Bible cover to cover. The three meetings a week were broken up with book studies, Awake and Watchtower Magazines,and ministry& field service meetings, all written by the Watchtower Society. Never did we read any chapters from Genesis to Revelation and discuss the true meaning of what we just read. Knowing how to present a Watchtower magazine was more important to them than teaching the books and the history of the Bible.

  Do you think the Watchtower Society does not read chapter after chapter, book by book for a reason? Do you think that the plan is to read a scripture here and there and teach only what is pertinent to their teachings, beliefs, doctrines and practices?

  this is the same religion that used to picket churches. They now put carts on public sidewalks. Maybe there should be 7 burly (bikers") just stand there in front of them.

  Here is a screenshot of a ''street preacher'' named Jerry who is reading scriptures from the Bible and the Watchtower magazine. Elders surround him and follow every step he takes. He talks and the Elders talk as loud as possible so they can drown him out. The security guard leaves him alone. The Elders disrupt him the whole time.

  But, Jehovah's Witnesses can set up literature carts on public sidewalks and demand respect. Maybe, we need people to disrupt them at every corner they preach.

  I don't think that she was being disruptive by holding a sign. Isn't blocking a public sidewalk an offense? Why can't she walk back and forth with her sign? What would these Elder goons do if she wanted to walk past them?

  They will not allow protestors on the property and will use brothers, big brothers, to block them from view of the sheeple.

  She is on a public sidewalk. She is not in the venue.

  They paid for the venue.

  They don't own the sidewalks. She has every right to protest and show her sign.

  And intimidating? They just stood there. They didn't push her, didn't get in her face.

  Seven big burly men standing in two rows blocking her from walking on a sidewalk they don't own. Why didn't they place some woman or small kids? Isn't seven burly men intimidating to a small woman?

  ''Be Courageous 2018 Convention.'' The police are called to have her removed from the public sidewalks. The police tell her that she has a right to protest on the sidewalk.

  
  

  What actions do these childish, intimidating, controlling Elders do to censorship and suppress this small woman? They place seven elders in front of her so they can intimidate her and her ''free speech'' rights. They use bully tactics and throw their weight around.

  
  

  Their behavior is shameful and an embarrassment to an organization who have won many

  court cases to preach their message, hand out literature, ring doorbells at 9 a.m., stand in street corners with literature carts, preach on Christmas day and telephone witness but ''silence'' anyone who wishes invoke their ''free speech.''

  Idiots like this who indulge in illegal "religious" activism do absolutely nothing to help waken active JW's. They merely reinforce the indoctrinated view of "evil apostates."

  
  

  I agree! Nothing he says will awaken anyone sitting at the meeting! It is scary as an audience member to have anyone stand up and interrupt the meeting. Who knows what mental condition this person is in who comes out of nowhere and disrupt the meeting? Just like anyone interrupting any official meeting, he should be made to leave.

  Better still, hand out pamphlets, make signs or walk outside the conventions and protest the lies, flip-flops, blood policy and disfellowshipping policies of the Watchtower Society.

  Please do not interrupt the meetings! I don't see anyone who is indoctrinated ever agreeing with ''evil apostates.''

  Do You Ever Have Dreams You’re Still a JW?

  last night i dreamt i was at a circuit assembly; i even had a walk-on speaking part early in the morning program.

  i spent the rest of the day “working” the event in a security detail.

  the dream lasted until the entire day’s program was over.

  I have many dreams where I see my deceased mom and deceased cousin at the meetings. They wave at me but never do I talk to my mom or my cousin. I sit in the back and tell myself that I don't belong here ( just like it was in real life where I hated every minute of every meeting).

  The Kingdom Hall seems larger with so many new members I do not recognize. Everything seems different. My mind tells me to leave and I walk out. My dreams seem to tell me that I did well by walking out 7 years ago.
